A day in India

Photographer Chisato Hikita hired me to design her photo book about an India journey following the Ganges river until a small town where she visited a local screen printing business.

She wanted to showcase the Ganges river and to present the local print business. I suggested the book could be read from both ends, telling a different stories depending which side we would start from.

The design aspect of the book was toned down to maximize the impact of the photos themselves. For the Ganges river story, I proposed the use of light ripples to suggest a journey on water. And for the screen printing business story, I chose the mark of a wooden stamp that would become brighter as the printing process progresses.
